15-16th July, 2022

Innsbruck, Austria

After a long deliberation, we are pleased to announce that we will host the Mini S4 event in Innsbruck, Austria the 15th and 16th of July 2022. As you are all aware, the ongoing global health crisis has caused disruptions for most scientific meetings and conferences, including the traditional S4 summer school that has been postponed until 2023 (more information to be announced soon).

Therefore, we have organized the Mini S4 event, which will be a small-scale in-person summer school event, bringing together students and/or early career researchers and experts from the field of speleothem science. The Mini S4 will include a mixture of lectures and workshops on various topics in the field of speleothem science and as well as providing an excellent opportunity to network with other students and experts. Furthermore, as this event is followed by the KR9 conference (Climate Change, The Karst Record IX, 17th – 20th July) in Innsbruck, it will be a great occasion to attend both conferences.

The event will be held at the Innrain Campus, which is located at the heart of Innsbruck: a city that is not only well-known for its breathtaking nature worldwide, but also for the alpine culture and its historical buildings. The University of Innsbruck is also well-known for its Quaternary research group, and it facilitates state-of-the-art laboratories, including stable isotope analyses, fluid inclusion measurements, OSL dating, XRD and mineralogical analyses, and various sample preparation.
